7 Probably Alternatives to Dan Mullen
The Florida Football Program has plenty of options to replace former coach Dan Mullen.
With a disastrous 5-6 record, the Florida Football League sacked former coach Dan Mullen.
This was Mullen’s fourth year in Gainesville. While the former offensive coordinator under Urban Meyer was initially a hit, he hit fans this fall. Florida has not defeated a Power Five competitor since defeating Vanderbilt over a month ago. After losing to Missouri in overtime, the Florida management saw enough. The Gators must win next week on Saturday to go bowling.
Fortunately, Gators have a wide range of worthy candidates to explore replacing Mullen with.
Florida Internship Candidates: Who Can Replace Dan Mullen in Gainesville?
Coach Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Dave Clawson is an excellent head coach, but Florida is a really big job for him
There’s no denying what Dave Clawson meant for Wake Forest soccer. ACC’s youngest school is now a staple of the bowl season. Deacons Deacons are in the midst of a wonderful season. While they are 9-2, they could still win the ACC title for the first time in over a decade. Clawson manages a unique but high-octane attack. He could leave Winston Salem for the right job.
Unfortunately, Florida probably isn’t. The last time he was part of a major program, the 2008 Tennessee Volunteers was a disaster that couldn’t be mitigated. Given that he prefers to use as many red shirts as possible, that might not fly in a talent-rich state like Florida. If he leaves Wake Forest, it could be for a program like Nebraska. While he could win, the fit seems weird.
Although Clawson can bring stability to a much-needed Florida program, they need above all else when it comes to long-term Mullen replacement.
