FSU’s defensive coach has been named “the coach to watch” in the NFL Training Carousel


As the NFL regular season draws to a close, NFL Network’s Tom Pellisero has listed potential lead candidates for the NFL and college ranks.

While not listed as a primary candidate, Florida State midfield coach/Defensive Running Coordinator Chris Marv was listed on Pellissero’s “Others to Watch in Years to Come.”

Marv played the quarterback at Vanderbilt University from 2007-2011. Anticipating kindergarten as a freshman, Marv played four years with the Commodore. He’s hit 398 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and seven forced attempts in his career.

Marv, 32, joined the Seminoles in 2020 after hiring head coach Mike Norville. Prior to his arrival in Tallahassee, Marv worked in the same position at Mississippi State in 2019. His coaching career began at his alma mater, spending 2014-18 as an alumni assistant and in-house quarterback coach.
