Kansas City needed a win over the Raiders to rise to the top in West Asia. Thanks to the defeat, they had the NFL Twitter announce the return of the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes.
It was heads all of sorts this season. The defense was weak. The crime seemed old. Patrick Mahomes looked human.
So maybe the NFL should be a little nervous about what they did to the Raiders on Sunday night. They looked more like their dominant old selves than they had all year.
By the time the 41-14 blast was complete, Kansas City was sitting on top of West Asia and the NFL Twitter was ready to make a few statements about the team.
NFL Twitter thinks Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes are ‘come back’
Are presidents “coming back?” It definitely felt as if she was the offensive line and the defense, particularly the defensive front, came into play.
Is the Mahomes back? Just ask him about his five-minute, 406-yard landing.
In college football, the “return” of teams like Texas and USC is often announced prematurely. So the whole “back” meme often doesn’t end well.
The difference is that the Chiefs have been one of the best teams in the NFL for years. They don’t come back from years of doodling. They are back from two tough months.
Andy Reed and his team control where they go from here. The real test is waiting around the corner. The Conquerors aren’t a picnic on the Allegiant Stadium but they’re also no real contender. Cowboys.
The Chiefs will host them in Arrowhead next weekend in a showdown between the Mahomes and Dak Prescott. Then the whole “return” question will really be answered.
