Terrence Crawford shines as he stops Sean Porter in Round 10 (VIDEO)

Terrence Crawford edged over welterweight competitor Errol Spence Jr after stopping Sean Porter in the 10th round via TKO.

On Saturday, November 20, welterweight champ Terrence Crawford made a statement against former champ Sean Porter. It was a close fight until the 10th round when Crawford closed the show.

Crawford (38-0, 29 KO) has been the WBO champ since 2019 and looked excellent. The only blow to him was that he didn’t go into the elite competition. Crawford is a top-tier fighter, while many of the top middleweights align with the PBC.

The two came together to put Crawford against Porter, but it seemed like a measuring stick for future matches. PBC was in no rush to put Errol Spence Jr. with Crawford. Crawford showed why against Porter.

Porter (31-4-1, 17 KOs) was a world champion, but lost to Spence in 2019 by split decision. He’s a strong fighter who always puts up a good fight, but Crawford spotted him.

Porter was aggressive at first and had success but faced adversity when he severely injured his left eye from a header. However, Crawford was also cut by a header into his right eye in Round 6.

Terence Crawford proved to be the best welterweight boxer in the world with a 10th round TKO victory over Sean Porter.

As the rounds progressed, events went back and forth, but Crawford’s timing began to beat Porter in Round 9.

By round 10, Crawford raised the bar. He dropped Porter with a short left overhead line. Porter got up again, but Crawford put it back on with a right hook followed by his left hand.

Porter pounded the cloth out of frustration, and was furious when his father and coach, Kenny Porter, stopped the brawl. It took a while for the crowd to see what was going on, but it became clear that the contest was over.

Porter could have gone on, but his dad said he was talking too much about punches. He also criticized his son’s preparation during post-fight interviews.

Crawford’s name goes to the top of the welterweight division with a shot. People should be calling for a Crawford-Spence match, but expect Top Rank to cash in on a new contract for Crawford’s services.

The undisputed lightweight champion Josh Taylor was very present during the fight week. It is likely that Top Rank will want to organize a huge fight between Crawford and Taylor. That would be a great fight, but Crawford would be the favorite after his performance against Porter.
